Don’t worry be happy

HI everyone,

Stop worrying about situations that cannot be changed. Stop worrying about people that you cannot change. Stop worrying about it all together.  Of course this is easier said than done. But spending more of your time focused on things that you have control over is a better use of time.

Worry is an emotion that people tend to waste their energy on. A lot of their energy! Prolonged worrying will affect your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Worrying that becomes excessive can lead to high anxiety and illness. Worrying prevents positive thinking and action. Worrying can affect your relationships, decision-making, eating patterns, sleep, job performance and happiness/joy. Worrying can provoke a sense of impending doom that only increases worry over time.

Recognizing  the triggers that lead to worry are the first steps in protecting yourself,  and putting your emotions back  in check.   Here are a few triggers that you should be aware of:

  1. Hearing or having certain conversations
  2. Seeing certain things
  3. Being put in certain situations

Stop this habit of worrying, and train yourself to stay calm and look at life from a more positive perspective.  Here are some suggestions of what you can do/change:

  1. Assess if the problem/issue is solvable. Can you affect a change?
  2. Be aware of how others affect you.  Walk away from people of situations that are not good for you.
  3. Focus on the present rather the future. Don’t worry about what hasn’t happened yet.
  4. Confine your worrying to a certain time during the day.
  5. Accept uncertainty or unknowns. You cannot control what exists outside of you.

No one likes how worrying makes you feel.  So don’t worry be happy! Be Bold!
