Miscommunication

Hi everyone,

Are you able to communicate effectively?  Are you being heard?  Are you being seen? Are you respected? Are you valued? Are you paying attention to your surroundings?  Are your thoughts, and ideas in alignment with specific individuals or groups?

Communication is intuitive. Meaning you need to check in with yourself, and your surroundings before expressing yourself. Communication has it’s place and time. Meaning that timing is an important factor in communicating.  Is this the right time, or the worse time to communicate? Communication comes in all shapes and forms. Music, and dance is also a form of communication.

How do you convey messages?  What do you want to say about yourself when you are communicating? How do you want to share information? What is the best approach to use when you are sharing information? What type of response are you looking for?

Being skillful at communication means that you are able to convey information efficiently, and effectively. A good communicator will have good verbal, non-verbal, and written communications skills. There are varying degrees of communicators as well.  Individuals who are better at verbally communicating versus written, and vice versa, etc.

Communicating is vital to one’s existence meaning that it is your connection to a world that is outside of yourself.  Communication is considered a “human connector”.  The connection of beliefs, ideas, thoughts, and feelings.

Here are some effective communication techniques and strategies:

  1. Providing feedback
  2. Silence
  3. Facial expressions – smiling
  4. Asking questions
  5. Listening
  6. Empathy
  7. Observation – paying attention to your surroundings and responding accordingly
  8. Reading & Learning
  9. Patience – waiting for your turn to speak

Communication is the key to unlocking the mystery of the unknown(s). Create opportunities for yourself to perfect this skill. You’ll be happier that you did!

Please share your thoughts and ideas on this topic. We can all learn from each other.

Thank you,

JAM
