How To Survival Skills

Reflections

Hi everyone,

It’s January 2, 2018, the second day of the new year.  How was 2017? Were you good to yourself? Was 2017 good to you?

As I sit here thinking about my life.  I start to envision what my future will look like…..again.  What do I need to do to prepare for my future? What goals have I accomplished in 2017? How far have I progressed towards these goals? What am I going to do different this year to achieve them? Remember the saying, “New Year, New Me”. Right? Well, let’s get going!

It’s time to reflect on how we’ve been living our lives.  Are we really living or are we letting the time go by, and just existing? In view of the fact that living life to the fullest should be on the top of our list,  it seems to be the goal that is the most challenging to achieve wholly. Why do some of us feel like we are always running on empty? Why do others willingly give up on their dreams and hopes?

If you don’t know how you got off track, where do you start? Here are some examples of how you can live your life to the fullest:

  1. First, be true to yourself.
  2. Love your enemies, for they tell you your faults – Quoted by Benjamin Franklin
  3. Stop complaining.
  4. Live more conscious of yourself, and your surroundings. What is your definition of yourself in world? Do you need to make some changes or modifications to it?
  5. Don’t think or waste your time on things you can’t change. For ex: you can’t change people, you can only change yourself.
  6. Always remember that your mind, and your thinking belongs to you.
  7. Exert self control over situations that are frustrating.  Remember to hold yourself to the highest regard and conduct.
  8. Write down your values, principles, personal strengths, and blind spots. Knowing your blind spots gives you the opportunity to actively work on them.
  9. Take action on areas of your life that you have been putting off. Stop holding your breath, holding yourself back, and  putting your life on hold!
  10. Uncover your life purpose, and inner self. “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, know that I can achieve it” – Rev. Jesse Jackson.
  11. Carpe Diem! Seize the day!

Seize every moment, live in the moment, embrace every experience, appreciate every relationship, and maximize every opportunity. As long as your are a breathing and thinking being, your life’s purpose can spike into existence at any time. You’ve got one life to live. Go for it!!

Please share your ideas and thoughts on this topic. We can all learn from each other.

Hope to hear from you this year.

  1. Loved the article! Q: I’ve always wondered what the statement “be true to yourself” really means. Thoughts?

    1. Hi Patricia,

Thank you for reading my post! Please see my response to your question below.

The statement, “be true to yourself” has several meanings. It means to live your truth, live according to your principles and standards. It means to be honest with yourself. It also means to take a stand for what you believe in. It’s like living according to your own mission statement. Its your definition of yourself in the world.

Does this seem to be in alignment with your thought on this topic?
